Cervical and Thoracic Spine in Physiotherapy Practice – – Differential Diagnosis and Treatment of Functional Disorders

Course content: This course focuses on comprehensive differential diagnosis and therapeutic approaches to functional disorders of the cervical and thoracic spine. Participants will learn to clinically differentiate between vertebrogenic and myofascial causes of pain in the cervicothoracic area and the main types of headaches. The course includes hands-on practice in diagnostic testing, palpation techniques, treatment of trigger points, fascia, soft tissues, mobilization techniques, and visceral approaches. The aim is to broaden the physiotherapist’s clinical thinking and provide effective tools for practice.

● 13:30–15:00 | Practical Session > Functional examination – cervical and thoracic spine > Functional assessment of headaches

● 15:30–17:00 | Practical Session > Intro to reciprocal inhibition and treatment of trigger points (short neck extensors, upper trapezius, sternocleidomastoid, scalenes)

● 09:00–10:30 | Practical Session > Fascia treatment – cervical and thoracic region > Mobilization techniques – AO joint, hyoid bone, neck traction

● 10:30–11:00 | Coffee break

● 11:00–12:30 | Practical Session > Mobilization techniques – C2, cervicothoracic junction, thoracic spine, ribs

● 12:30–13:30 | Lunch

● 13:30–15:00 | Practical Session > Visceral manipulation – stomach, liver, diaphragm

● 15:00–15:30 | Coffee break

● 15:30–17:00 | Basic exercises for cervicothoracic region
